BBL / GENERATIVE ENGINE OPTIMISATION / UK

Generative engine optimisation that AI search can actually use.
No promise of a recommendation, and a written record of what changed.

ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity are answering your customers’ questions before they reach your website. Here’s what generative engine optimisation involves, what it can and can’t promise, and which of the three ways to do it fits your business.

Generative engine optimisation (GEO) makes a business’s services and answers easy for AI search tools such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity to find, quote and cite. No one can guarantee a recommendation, so measure it in enquiries.

No guaranteed AI recommendations·Measured in clicks and enquiries·A plain-English report each month

WHAT YOU GET
01

Answers an AI tool can quote.

Each service page opens with the question a customer types and answers it in its first two sentences, plainly, with your area and your next step. Short, direct answers are what these tools lift.

02

The same facts, everywhere.

Your name, area, opening hours and services should read identically on your website, your Google Business Profile and your directory listings. Conflicting facts give a tool a reason to doubt you.

03

A written record, every month.

We ask the same questions in the same tools each month and report what they said, with dates, including the months nothing changed. You see the answers themselves, not a score.

THREE WAYS TO FIX IT

Three ways to do GEO, two of them not us

01

Check it yourself

Once a month, ask ChatGPT, Google and Perplexity the questions your customers ask about your trade and your town. Write the answers down with the date. Free, and it tells you where you stand. It falls down because the findings still need fixing: rewritten pages, corrected listings, reviews. Most owners never get round to it.

02

An SEO agency on a monthly retainer

A firm that already handles your search work adds AI questions to its monthly plan. The right choice if it already knows your business and reports honestly. It falls down if the retainer reports rankings but never shows you what the AI tools actually say about you.

03

A focused GEO service

We write the answers, fix the facts behind them and report what the tools say each month, without selling it as a guarantee. This one is ours. Do not use us if your current agency already reports on AI answers in writing, or if your work comes almost entirely from referrals and rarely from search.

Our recommendation: If your customers find you by referral and you rarely lose work to search, check it yourself and spend nothing. If new customers come through Google and AI tools and your current agency cannot show you the answers, a focused GEO service targets that gap. Start by checking the answers for a month, then decide, because the check costs you nothing to see where you stand.

HOW IT WORKS

We start with the questions your customers really ask, from your trade, your town and the calls you already take. We put those questions to the AI tools and record the answers with dates. Then we fix what they read: service pages that answer each question directly, your business facts made consistent, and the profiles and reviews your customers already leave. Each month we ask again and report what changed. Pricing is a one-time setup fee plus a monthly fee, agreed before we start.

PROOF

Read Walk On The Wild Side’s story →

Our dated results are about search, not AI. Walk On The Wild Side, Ashford, recorded 4,897 visits (sessions, not sales) and 2,943 Google Search clicks from 1 July to 28 September 2026. Thameside Podiatry, Shepperton, averaged position 3.3 for “podiatrist shepperton” from 1 to 28 September 2026. We have not measured how often either site is quoted by ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews or Perplexity, so we don’t claim it.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What is generative engine optimisation?

Can you guarantee my business will be recommended by ChatGPT?

No, and anyone who does is selling you a risk. The AI tools choose from many sources and change their answers without notice. We can make your business easier to find, quote and check, and we report what the tools say each month, including when nothing has changed.

What is the difference between GEO and SEO?

SEO is about ranking in Google’s list of links. GEO is about being used in the answer an AI tool writes, which can include Google’s AI Overviews. The two share most of the work, since a clear page that answers a real question helps both. GEO adds checking what the AI tools actually say.

Is this the same as AI SEO?

It overlaps. Our AI SEO page covers the wider work. This page is about the answers themselves: the questions, the facts behind them and the monthly record of what the tools said.

How long before I see a change?

AI answers change without warning, so there is no fixed timeline and nothing we can promise. The first report sets a dated baseline, so any change is measured against where you started.

Do I need a new website for this?

Often not. Many businesses need their existing pages rewritten to answer questions directly, plus their facts tidied. If the site is too thin to answer anything, a new build may be the honest answer, and we would say so.

THREE DOUBTS

Asked before booking. Answered straight.

Isn’t this just SEO with a new name?

Partly, and we say so. Clear pages and accurate listings help Google and AI tools alike. What is new is checking, in writing and each month, what the AI tools say, and changing the pages behind those answers.

Nobody knows how these tools choose, so how can anyone do this?

Nobody sees the whole selection process. What can be seen is what the tools say today, which sources they show, and what changes after a fix. We work from that evidence and report it, including the parts that didn’t move.

I’m worried about paying for something that doesn’t work.

Then start with the check. Ask the tools the questions your customers ask, record what they say, and decide from that. You don’t need us to see where you stand.
